hearts peaceful and our minds sound

You watch us journey through the years

The joys and the tears

The falls and the climbs

the lows and the highs

You are God’s miracle in this land

Without you

the pains of distance,

the strangeness of the customs,

the breach of made promises,

the tides of politics,

the amalgam of cultures,

the dryness of the books,

of the he-saids and he-objecteds,

the arrogance of knowledge,

the façade of piety,

the seductions of fame

and a thousand many more troubles and baits

will devour us whole,

were it not for your embrace

every time you returned our salam with grace

So to you salam belongs,

to you our thanks do not end

the mother of our hearts,

the miracle of this land.
